Blue pottery is known to be traditional craft of Jaipur. It travelled to India through Mughals in the 14th century. 'Blue pottery' derived its from the striking cobalt blue Historically.
Jaipur has evolved as the main centre for producing the blue pottery. The distinct factor of the craft is that it is the only pottery technique which does not use clay. Bentonite has provided employment opportunities to the rural population at KotJewar(village). The art was introduced in Kot Jewar in early 90s and has been going on throughout the village.
